About me.
Thomas Krause is the founder of Day Six Films LLC and the producer of RED FLAGS. As a filmmaker in recovery, he is drawn to stories that use mystery, horror, and imaginative storytelling to explore growth, resilience, and the human experience. Through his work, Thomas hopes to create films that entertain audiences while inspiring reflection, empathy, and transformation.
My Story
At around thirteen years old, I began experimenting with filmmaking whenever my mother could borrow a camcorder from her school. Using two VCRs, playing back on one and recording onto the other, I learned how camera angles, editing, and sequence could build shots into a narrative. I can still remember the look on my mom’s face when she watched a movie I made in the garage and briefly wondered whether a girl had actually been run over by a lawnmower. I was fascinated by the power of film to tell stories, create emotion, and transport audiences to other worlds.
Today, I believe life’s experiences have carried that initial spark into deeper waters. Life did not take me directly into filmmaking. Over the years, I pursued acting, studied at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, performed improv in Los Angeles, and taught in South America. Along the way, I also faced recurring challenges that repeatedly changed the course of my life. Through it all, storytelling remained a constant source of inspiration.
Now, recovery is one of the most important parts of my life. It has taught me the value of honesty, growth, gratitude, and using the gifts we have been given in service of something larger than ourselves. Each day, I try to live according to spiritual principles and find the courage to build the life I want to live. Those lessons have profoundly shaped both who I am and the stories I want to tell.
Some of my favorite films use monsters, mysteries, and the supernatural to reveal something deeply human. The giant plant in Little Shop of Horrors can reflect the desperation created by poverty and oppression. Freddy Krueger can be seen as the embodiment of truths that adults refuse to hear. That is the kind of storytelling I aspire to create, stuff about ordinary people facing extraordinary challenges and discovering truths that lead to growth and transformation. Through a blend of realism and imagination, I hope to make films that entertain audiences while fostering reflection, empathy, and a deeper appreciation for the complexity of human experience.
RED FLAGS is the first project being produced through Day Six Films LLC and represents an important step in my journey as a filmmaker. I am grateful to everyone who chooses to support this film and help bring this story to life.
